REDEFINING FAMILY: VIETNAM ROOTS TURNED AMERICAN INSPIRATION STORY

My story began when I wasn't even born in 1975 – when my mom and dad were in their 20s, climbed into a small boat, and headed out on the Pacific Ocean, hoping to find a new life.

Decades prior, unbeknownst to anyone that life's intersection could occur this serendipitously, a Jewish immigrant family arrived in New York City to escape death and start a new life for their children. This family's children eventually moved to Little Rock, Arkansas.

And that is where they met my parents. On a breezy sunny day in July of 1975, this Jewish family came to Fort Chafee to trust their hearts' desire to give back and sponsor a group of Vietnamese immigrants.

SPONSOR KIDS? PAY IT FORWARD

Fast forward years later - I am trying to make sense of the influences that have shaped the decisions of my life.

At 16, I started to join programs to feed children around the world and moved on to the SOS Village adoption program, joining as the youngest ambassador at the time. As I traveled across the globe adopting kids and visiting them, I finally understood the concept of paying it forward; it's strangers who helped my parents and who were supported by other foreign acquaintances before them.

At a very young age, I intentionally helped strangers so that we could continue the cycle for others. The decisions of others were imprinted in my DNA long before I was brought into existence hence why it became a driving force for my passion.

CHILDREN OF YOUR OWN?

It is taken to another level when you have your own kids, regardless of how they became yours, responsibility for a life or lives, takes your adult mindset to another paradigm. Through the challenges, you push through as a plane flies through a thunderstorm looking for clear skies. My 2 little ones came in two different ways, but with the same amount of love and hugs. Parenthood is sacred, and the relationship with your children shows how universal cycles are created and destroyed. I begin to realize how the world works, and my emotions become a tumultuous ordeal. I want to be able to provide security and inspiration for them going forward.

SCREENTIME?

My two have been brought up, unlike me and past generations. I am a working single mom and can't stop fighting screen time; therefore, it is crucial to utilize technology to my advantage. I also challenge myself to alter the current mindset of how we perceive the world and the problems we aim to solve. I do hear negative commentary about being antisocial. Who's to say public speaking classes or a class about being a better friend can't happen on zoom? Some prefer to gradually learn at their own pace. The metaverse will not be wrong if we focus on rebuilding and unlearning key metrics. These key metrics are what we will discover together on our gamified learning journey collectively.

The first constant we know is that the world embraces a hug. A universal connection, whether online or offline, rich or poor, black or white, young or old. Humanity is the foundation for learning: Metahug.

We created Metahug World to pay forward learning with a MetaHug

Metahug

meta \ ˈhəg  \

Definition of metahug

An unconditional, uncircumstantial kindness transferred to a stranger.

It is an act founded on the belief that if we treat everyone like we're all connected, it will transform lives.

GAMIFY EDUCATION    LEARN. PLAY. EARN

Education has not seen iteration for generations. Shouldn't we challenge ourselves to learn?

Innovation has transformed data intake from generation to generation, from radio to TV, TV to Internet, Internet to Gaming, Gaming to Metaverse.

The metaverse is gaming brought to life in the phygital world. We see a paradigm shift in education as a ripe opportunity for parents and children to experience learning together, starting with a simple hug. Whether far away on business or across the city at the office, children and parents become acquainted in a community learning together, incentivized by hugs.

We look forward to exploring new ways to generate a win-win-win scenario for parents-kids-brands. Kids extract real-world education by learning applicable skills invariably needed that might not be on the agenda in the classroom but are crucial as an entrepreneur or an employee—game Theory exploration in full throttle.
